The Center for Human Service Leadership (CHSL), supported by Washington University and the Missouri Foundation for Health was created to help implement the Delmar Divine vision and strengthen the nonprofit organizations who have made Delmar Divine their home.

The Center for Human Service Leadership serves four main functions:

  • Animation: The center organizes a variety of educational programs, social and on-boarding activities to connect tenants, facilitate relationships, stimulate collaboration, enhance employee morale and build a distinctive Delmar DivINe community culture that centers diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Concierge Information & Referral Services: The team researches and obtains answers to day-to-day problems and questions, provides informational management consulting, makes referrals and introductions, curates & disseminates information to tenants, acting as an extension of the tenant’s management.
  • Connection to Brown School and Washington University Resources: As part of the ongoing partnership between Delmar DivINe and Washington University, the Center team facilitates access to other services such as Professional Development, Evaluation Center, Social Entrepreneurship & Innovation Lab, Office of Field Education, faculty-supported student projects, and Community Engagement department.
  • Professional Development and Executive Education: The Center designs, plans and implements a variety of both informal and formal educational and training programs designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of organizational leaders, staff, board members and volunteers.

Delmar Divine is an innovative, multi-use initiative that provides co-location opportunities for nonprofit organizations alongside a range of shared support services for both tenants and the broader St. Louis community. The complex also includes below market-rate housing to serve diverse, early career nonprofit professionals and several retail businesses. Delmar Divine aims to stimulate new collaborations between academic, nonprofit, for-profit and public sector partners. Practically and symbolically, Delmar DivINe seeks to address the longstanding disadvantage and disinvestment in communities north of Delmar Boulevard.

Mission: Creating and sustaining an equitable community space to build organizational capacity through leadership and management services to the Delmar DivINe tenants and larger St. Louis community.

Vision: A vibrant, collaborative, innovative community of organizations that deliver effective, efficient, ethical, transformative services to clients, customers and community
